Is it Time to Refresh Your Home Office?

Is your home office supporting you or is it working against you?

My home office is a bit more feminine than the rest of the house, while it has a neutral background it also has pops of colour that happen to be energizing for me, they spark the creativity I need for my job. The pops of pinks & oranges among  the various shades of blues ranging from dark inky blue to bright turquoise with crisp whites! This the colour combination that helps me in my home office, they help me focus and feel inspired to work on my designs and writing.

I also have pieces that have so much meaning to me..family heirlooms, gifts from  friends, pieces picked up on family trips…these things remind me in times of stress that I am loved and like good times, the stressful times shall pass too.

In my case, having a wide long desk is best for how I work. I need to be able to  see the colours of fabric samples, tiling and paint swatches against a white surface  nearest my window. I also need to spread out my paper work and files for each  project. So having a larger surface that allows me to spread out helps me keep  things in order and therefore focused. A combination of open and closed storage  helps me to keep things tidy and easy to grab when I am running out the door to meet with clients.

Not always so glamorous but so important, having good seating to properly support  your back, shoulders, your wrist placement. These are very important features to  have.

So with this in mind, HOW do you need your office to function for YOU. Do need a lot of desk space to spread out your work, or maybe you are entirely digital and only  need a small surface. Does your chair support your back properly and most  importantly think about items, accessories, colours that inspire you to be in the  proper mind space for your work.
